They should not destroy our holy bridge! All the Hindus in the world must support this issue and raise the voice. With the might of the pen we should stop it from being destroyed!!!
In the Ramayana, one of our most revered scriptures, there is a well-known account of a bridge being built between Bharat (India) and Sri Lanka by Shri Rama and his army. Although this has been dismissed by sceptical historians as folklore, satellite pictures clearly show a bridge just under the surface of the sea. This was even recently noted by Sunitha Williams, the NASA astronaut of Indian origin, who had the opportunity to view the bridge from space.
Recently the Government of India has started a project to destroy this bridge. The reason for this is to allow ships to pass around India, which they are unable to do at present due to the intervening bridge. Currently ships must travel around Sri Lanka and this adds a significant amount of time to the journey.
There has been opposition to this project (The Sethusamudram Project) for a number of reasons. These reasons include religious sentiments. This was a bridge built by Shri Rama, and forms a part of our heritage. Can we destroy this for economic reasons?
